Taiko drumming requires, at its highest level, the sort of dedication and discipline that you would expect in a martial arts academy and the Yamato crew definitely give their all as they create astonishing layers of sonic thunder.<\/p>\n

Amongst the explosive percussion workouts, however, there are delicate movements where shimmering cymbals and ghostly gongs are used to great effect. Apart from displaying a monk-like intensity, the drummers are not averse to a little showbiz swagger as they slide, feint and even drop kick their way round the giant drums in order to add variety and fun to their memorable show.<\/p>\n

The film that enabled Dolly Parton to break into Hollywood has been revamped as a West End musical with additional songs provided by the Queen of Country herself. Following the adventures of three ambitious young women as they attempt to cast off stereotypes while climbing the corporate ladder, Nine to Five fizzes with the kind of female energy that has challenged the status quo throughout the ages.<\/p>\n

The three women mutually support one another in their struggles and when their misogynistic boss steps over the line, they plan retribution. The subsequent kidnap and chase scenes are played to great comic effect and the songs are shot through with Parton\u2019s trademark brand of bubbly optimism, homespun wisdom and female empowerment.<\/p>\n
